2. Don't sacrifice any form for function.

Consider your workflow and first decide which features you need at your fingertips before investing in the furniture, and then look out for aesthetic pieces (which are both beautiful and functional). Also, remember that your home office furniture should match the other rooms of your home instead of being an isolated island. If your home has traditional decor, go for warm wood and soft colours. A contemporary home office can feature artistic pieces or modern metal furniture.

4. Choose the wall colour that you love.

Forget the cliche colours and paint your home office in beige or some other colour just to bring in a formal feel. You can also follow your mind and paint the office space in the bright, cheery colours like orange or lime green. These colours will help you stay happy and energetic throughout the day. Alternatively, you can also go for some calming shades like botanical green or sea foam blue!

3. Invest in a comfortable chair.

You are going to spend hours parked in your office chair. So make it a point to invest in a wonderful, ergonomically-correct, comfortable seat!

5. Give yourself a scenic view.

Place your desk near a window from which you can easily stare at a fresh and open view, or at least, place it from where you have something more interesting than a blank wall. If you have a windowless space, then hang a pretty picture above the desk, or place your chair to face the door.

6. Go for some home accessories.

If you are not going for a highly contemporary look, you can choose some extra accessories which can help you in enhancing the comfortable look and feel of your home office. You can add some tiny articles like a pretty mug for a pencil holder, trendy notepads and sticky notes, or a decorative wastebasket. You can also wrap your bulletin board in a gorgeous fabric and then hide the bookshelves behind the curtains. You can also hang a few inspirational prints on the walls, or get the kids' framed artwork for that wall.

7. Organise your stuff vertically and horizontally.

Use your space efficiently and smartly. Hang some floating shelves on your walls and get the papers and office equipment off the desk by using the vertical file folders. Also, keep the vital papers within arm's reach.or click Edit Text, it's easy. Are you a stacker or a filer? If you also tend to make piles, get a nice basket to tame your mail, notes, and papers. If you prefer a clean desktop, designate one drawer for your "to-do" papers. Wooden or metal cube storage is a fun alternative to bookshelves since each space can be used for books, knickknacks, or baskets of odds and ends.

8. Master your technology.

You can do nothing much to beautify your computer, printer, and phone, but you can hide those unwanted cords and give it a neat look. Make sure that the equipment is close to outlets and easy to access if you need to unplug.

9. Make room for some natural light!

You can bring in some natural light into your home office to create a sense of freshness. Also, if the light is too harsh, then reduce the brightness through curtains and draperies, as it may lead to eye strain and medium or severe headaches. Also, place your computer monitor appropriately to ensure there is no glare from any window or overhead light.
